Round table about road safety

Over the next three years we are planning to issue periodically brochures improving the awareness of necessity of first aid in case of road accident. We will first publish 10 000 copies as a test and will do more depending on the result. The subject of those brochures will be focused on the importance of the first hour after the accident for life saving and advices of first aid. It will be destined to active drivers. The action shall be performed with the collaboration of the Bulgarian Red Cross. The brochures will be distributed in petrol stations, shops, motor shows...

During the next three Sofia Motor Shows (70 000 visitors), we will organize a Round table about road safety. In order influence the public attention we will invite more than 400 journalists who will communicate about the issue. We will also publish the results of the Round Table in our Website and in the Newsletter concerning the event.

 
 



The European Road Safety Charter in Bulgaria: Joint efforts and shared responsibility

The European Road Safety Charter continued its launch tour in key European cities, with a presentation in Sofia on 12 September. The signing event, supported by the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, the Ministry of Transport and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, took place at the EC Representation in Sofia.



Mr Mutafchiev, Bulgaria’s Minister for Transport, noted that road safety was a priority for his government, which had organised a national campaign in support of the EC initiative to halve the number of road accident victims by 2010. According to Mr Mutafchiev, "the main objective of our campaign is to disseminate the principles of the ERSC, which include joint efforts and shared responsibility".



The all-important signing event then took place. On the occasion of this ceremony, 16 new signatories joined the community in action. The Association of Importers of Automobiles, the Planet – Children’s Parliament Association, Bella Bulgaria S.A., the Bulgarian Red Cross, Europe bg, K-I Invest Holding, Multipack, the National Bi-Bit Club, Overgas Inc. AD, Petrol Ltd., the Railway Transport Friends Association, Shell Bulgaria, the Union of Bulgarian Motorists, the Union of the Importers of Automobiles in Bulgaria, Sofia City Council and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry all committed to carry out road safety actions in Bulgaria. The signing event was a great success, attended by over 80 people and covered extensively by the media.
